Surgery Week Schedule

Last night was the big class on the week of surgery.  Scary stuff.

Sunday, I'm gonna be on the toilet all day, on maxa-something and clear liquids.  And hubby will likely insist on the upstairs bathroom, so I'll be in the little downstairs bathroom.  No fun.

Monday, we go to the hospital for more tests.  As if we haven't been through enough.  They're stealin' more of my blood!  Another clear liquids day.  Gotta get some pictures taken of me too.  Gotta pack a bag, and remember chargers.

Tuesday is surgery day.  We gotta shower at 5 in the morning and go to the hospital early early.  I might just stay up all night playing videogames, because that will be my last chance for a while.    Then the fun begins.  Needles, drugs, I'll be carried around in a gurney.  They mentioned a cocktail, and I don't think they mean the kind that comes in a glass.  I asked if I could take my anti-anxiety medication before the surgery.  They said I couldn't take my own, but they'd try to get something for me there.  Then I go to sleep.  While I'm out, they're gonna do surgery with little robot arms in my tummy.  So for them, it's kinda like a videogame.  They control the little arms and what they do.  A few hours later, I will wake up with 75% less stomach, and around 5 little booboos on my abdomen where the robot arms went in.  They'll make me walk down the hallway to make sure I don't get clots, then I think I get to sleep for the rest of the day.

Wednesday is going to be my first day of boredom.  I'll try to get a blog post out to you guys.  I'll have to sip water every 20 minutes and pray that I won't be in too much pain.  The hospital rooms are only for one person, so I won't be able to hang out with hubby.  We'll have our tablets so we can use the internet, but no videogames.  They'll probably make me walk a little a few times in the day.  They stressed the importance of getting up and about.

Thursday, if we've been good, we get to go home.  I'll definitely be able to post a blog post then!  I'll probably be very happy to be home.  And then, 2 weeks of clear liquids begin.

Well, that's gonna be my fun week of surgery!  Oh yeah, good times ahead.
